The Moving2Neutrality Agenda, supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), is a highly innovative integrated industrial project focused on the production of green hydrogen and biofuels to support the decarbonization of the transport sector, particularly in segments that are hard to electrify. The consortium, led by Petrogal, includes national reference entities with unrivalled knowledge and experience throughout the value chain as well as leading institutions in R&D activities at all stages of the production processes.
M2N Agenda envisaged six structuring projects. Four of these projects were the core of a new Sines Green Hub at Galp's production facility, namely:
1) a Green Hydrogen production unit,
2) a Synthetic Ethanol unit,
3) an Alcohol-to-Jet unit, and
4) a HDO unit.
The Agenda also included the production of Cellulosic Ethanol and the deployment of a pilot network of Galp hydrogen refuelling stations.
The GrAPHy project (WP1.5.1) aims to develop models for a green NH3 production process adapted to the intermittent production of green hydrogen from renewable energy sources, through the study of its feasibility supported by dynamic models, its optimization and control. The validation of this process engineering system will be carried out in a small-scale unit to produce green NH3 using intermittent renewable hydrogen ("power-to-ammonia"). More, it is expected the development of a digital twin for real-time process optimization and control.
