Ph.D. in Mining Engineering, under the subject “Geochemistry of low-temperature geothermal fluids and water-rock interaction” at Technical University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior Técnico (1999). Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. Between 2007 and 2014 was Coordinator of the Center for Petrology and Geochemistry of Instituto Superior Técnico. His main scientific areas of research are Hydrogeology, Water-rock interaction, Geochemistry of Geofluids and Isotope Hydrology. Other scientific areas of interest are Mineralogy, Petrology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Engineering and Environmental Geology. He has participated in several National and International R&D Projects mainly focused on the geochemistry of surface and groundwaters and water-rock interaction studies, based on chemical and isotopic composition of waters and rocks. He is author and co-author of several scientific papers in Book Chapters and National and International Journals
