We have an open position for a PhD student to develop smart geophysical inversion methods for sustainable groundwater management under the project InTheMED
Admission Requirements: Master’s degree in Geophysics, or related disciplines, preferably on petroleum engineering, mining engineering or geology. Compulsory deep skills on any scientific programming language. (e.g. Python, Matlab). Availability to work in an interdisciplinary environment. Programming skills in C++ is highly valuable. To be enrolled at a PhD in Instituto Superior Técnico.
Workplan: The 3-years InTheMED project aims at the development and implementation of new geophysical inverse modelling tools for sustainable groundwater management. These tools will be based on geostatistical and spatial data science methods. The methods to be developed will be applied to at least a real case study in the South of Portugal. It is expected a large interaction with the remaining partners around the Mediterranean region.
