Janine Figueiredo graduated in Mining Engineering at School of Mines, at the Federal University of Ouro Preto, Brazil (2014). Her final work for the undergraduate was analyzed a feasibility study of an underground mine in Brazil and propose a new exploitation method. She was a research at a Geotechnical laboratory in Civil Department (FEUP), she worked with mining tailings, executed some geotechnical characterization tests (2015).
In 2016, She has started her Ph.D. in Mining Engineering and Geo-Resources (FEUP), her subject intends to compare solutions to minimize the impacts generated in the environment by mining tailings. The analysis considers an integrated assessment with simultaneously technical, environmental, economic and social components in a tailings reprocessing project.
As a research fellowship, at National Council of Technological and Scientific Development (Brazil) and CERENA, she has a main interest are in tailings management, algorithms optimization, mining processing, and geo-resources.
