Janine Figueiredo is an experienced researcher in mineral characterization and tailings reprocessing, with a focus on innovating processes to enhance both economic efficiency and environmental sustainability. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering from the School of Mines at the Federal University of Ouro Preto, Brazil (2014), and a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering and Geo-Resources from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto (2020). Her doctoral thesis, titled "Tailings Reprocessing: A Multicriteria Optimization Analysis as an Integrated Management Tool," was supervised by Cristina Vila and António Fiúza. She worked as a researcher at the Vale Institute of Technology, leading research and development projects and contributing to postgraduate courses. Currently, she is a Lecturer and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Federal University of Ouro Preto.
