Beatriz Bento, originally from Lisbon, earned her PhD in Environmental and Life Sciences at Trent University (Canada) in 2024, with a thesis titled "Assessing Mercury and Methylmercury Levels in the Wabigoon River with Special Attention to Mercury Methylation." She holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (Portugal), completed in 2016. Beatriz has a diverse professional experience, having worked as a process engineer at The Navigator Company in 2017, a Research Scholar at CTN-IST in 2018, a research assistant at Trent University in 2024, and a teaching assistant at Trent University for four years. She is currently a researcher at CERENA/FEUP, where she conducts research in the area of Mining Engineering and supports Science and Technology management activities.
