Head of Geotechnical Center since 2000. Main teaching and research topics: surface and underground mining, rock mechanics and environmental geotechnics. Consulting activities in Portugal, Angola, Spain, Italy, Poland, Peru and China. Member of two Expert Committees of the European Union in Brussels, during 12 years. Supervision of 15 PhD programs and more than 30 MSc. More than 300 technical publications.
