António Jorge Sousa
A. Jorge Sousa graduated in 1977 in Mining Engineer at Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST). In 1988 he obtained the Ph.D. with a thesis on Mine Planning (Data Analysis and Multivariate Geostatistics. An application to ore typology). Full Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Georesources of Instituto Superior Técnico since 2004. He was President of the Mining Department from 2002 to 2008. Since 2013 he is Vice-President of the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Georesources. His main field is Data Analysis and Multivariate Spatial Statistics applied to Natural Resources and Environmental Modelling. He has published more than 100 papers in Scientific Journals, Books and International Conference Proceedings. He has participated in and co-ordinated several national and international R & D Projects.
