CERENA Researcher wins START Global Pitch Competition

Rafael Amoedo and his start-up team are the winners of the prestigious START Summiteer Award, the annual pitching competition held during the START Summit. This student-run conference, dedicated to entrepreneurship and technology, took place on March 20–21, 2025, in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

The competition showcases early-stage startups to a diverse audience, including companies, international organizations, universities, research centers, and investors. As winners, Emissium received EUR 500,000 to invest in and accelerate their business.

Emissium is a cleantech start-up, specialized in providing high-resolution electricity data to help companies make smarter, low-carbon, and cost-effective energy decisions. By tracking electricity flows in real-time across Europe, the company helps businesses to optimize their energy usage — reducing costs and cutting emissions. Whether it's shifting electric vehicle charging, cooling data centers, managing industrial loads, or accurately reporting Scope 2 emissions, the goal is to transform complex electricity data into actionable insights for a net-zero future.
